Your Guide to a Mediterranean Summer of Fun
There’s nothing better than sailing the Mediterranean Sea during the height of summer, when the water is shining and calm, and the sky an endless blue. We’d wager the only way to make those long, lazy, azure days even more idyllic is knowing that later on in the evening you’ll be docking in one of the historic cities that line the water, and heading for a drink with the sun-kissed locals.
If you’re spending the warmer months sailing around the Med but want to make sure your time on land is as fun as your time on the water, then read ahead for our guide to the best venues to hit when you dock.
BARCELONA: CLDC
The chic capital of Catalonia has always been known as one of the Mediterranean’s prominent partying destinations, and CDLC is the epitome of that reputation. Right on the beach, it’s a short walk from port to party with a visit to this iconic venue, which is also just a stone’s throw from the famous casino - perfect if anyone in your group is a fan of high rolling. CDLC itself is one of Barcelona’s best restaurants during the day and early evening, serving Asian fusion delights to lucky diners, but as night rolls in it takes on another personality.
One of Barcelona’s most exclusive venues, this is very much a dress-to-impress kind of spot. The city’s most glamorous flock to the dance floor to hear local DJs spin hypnotic beats, all while the staff ferry top quality magnums of champagne to the illustrious visitors. Bottle service isn’t a must here, but we’d recommend it for the full experience. If you’re looking for something special after a day on the sea, then CDLC is the club for you.

IBIZA: NIKKI BEACH
When you picture the dominant aesthetic of luxury beach venues, you’re thinking of a Nikki Club. With locations in prominent sun-soaked spots all over the globe, the group dominate the seaside social scene for those who like the finer things in life. The Ibiza outpost is no different, with a gorgeous pool to dive into between sipping on exquisitely crafted cocktails, and plenty of delicious eats on offer to line the stomach.
Nikki Beach Ibiza is definitely more of a pre-club venue as it closes at 8 pm. However, that doesn’t mean the party atmosphere isn’t alive and kicking; as the day goes on, DJs pump up the noise and get all the guests ready for a classic Ibiza night out. Arrive in the mid-afternoon and you’ll find revellers already getting into the swing of things, and you’ll soon be cutting just as loose.

MYKONOS: BONBONNIERE
The white sands of Mykonos have long been a shining beacon in the Cyclades, and no Mediterranean yachting trip would be complete without a visit to this island, which is now more known for its incredible bars and clubs than its Homeric history. While a lot of venues on Mykonos are known for cheap shot deals and bright strobe lights, some clubs retain a real sense of splendour and class and nowhere is this more true than at the prestigious BONBONNIER.
Situated in the heart of Mykonos’s old town, BONBONNIERE is perfect for every kind of night out. With lounge areas to enjoy cocktails and shisha in, as well as exclusive table service on offer so you can beat the crowds at the bar before heading onto the dance floor, whether you want an exclusive experience or to revel with the best of the island is up to you. The club is also known for hosting the rich and famous during summer, so don’t be surprised if you do some accidental celebrity spotting.

SAINT TROPEZ: BAGATELLE
Nothing quite has the appeal of the French Riviera and nowhere symbolises this history of class and refinement as well as the infamous commune of Saint Tropez. A must-stop on any Mediterranean sailing adventure, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to bars in this exclusive enclave. But even with all these highlights, Bagatelle remains a cut above.
With dramatic, plunging bayside views on one side of the venue and the quaint old town of Saint Tropez on the other, the surroundings here are second to none. Yet, the atmosphere, food, and drink manage to take Bagatelle to another level. A daytime venue, it’s the ideal spot for a long lunch with plenty of wine, which you can enjoy while DJs play music to keep the vibe going. It’s also perfectly placed so that the rest of Saint Tropez’s excellent nightlife is only a short hop away. The perfect sailing stops off.
